Differences is a term referring to how a person may view/interpret the world differently to their peers. The word 'difference' is used because there isn't one that is right and one that is wrong. For example, an orange isn't better than an apple, it makes no sense at all. We as human beings are all different.

Synonyms such as concerns, difficulties and issues are deficit based, thus not affirming. To use an animal analogy this time: if you have a bird, fish, elephant and leopard and you rate them based only on their ability to climb a tree, you are missing the wonderful things that the others can do (flying, swimming, breathing under water, sensitive hearing etc.). To have concerns about an elephant's ability to climb would sound ridiculous.

Therefore to celebrate all our differences as human beings, make sure to use the term 'differences' rather than the others as part of your inclusive repertoire.
