What is Neuro Ambassadors?
Neuro Ambassadors is a whole-school approach where every pupil learns about neurodiversity, its strengths, and how to create a supportive environment for all. The programme is designed to ensure that every child—whether neurodivergent or within the predominant neurotype—feels safe, understood, and able to thrive.
At the heart of the initiative is the belief that “the leaders of tomorrow are in our classrooms today.” By giving pupils the tools to understand neurodiversity, we empower them to become inclusive, compassionate changemakers—both in school and in their future workplaces.
Two Levels of Engagement: For all, and For Those Who Want to Go Further
-
Foundational Knowledge for All Pupils
All pupils are taught age-appropriate content about:-
What neurodiversity means
-
Why it’s important
-
The strengths and challenges it can bring
-
How to be an ally to peers
-
-
Neuro Ambassador Pathway (Optional)
Pupils who wish to explore further can choose to become Neuro Ambassadors, earning their award by completing:-
Extended learning on neurodiversity
-
Mentoring activities to support peers
-
Work-related tasks that build real-world inclusion and leadership skills
-
This pathway is not limited to neurodivergent pupils—in fact, it thrives on diversity of experience. Everyone has something valuable to learn and something valuable to offer.
Curriculum Integration
The programme can be delivered across all key stages—from EYFS to Year 13—using the Neuro Inclusion UK curriculum map, which guides schools in embedding content within tutor time, PSHE, or wider personal development sessions.
The Impact
By building knowledge and inclusive habits across the school journey, pupils develop:
-
A solid understanding of neurodiversity
-
Confidence in self-advocacy and allyship
-
The ability to challenge poor practice
-
Skills to build inclusive communities and workplaces
Together, we create schools where every pupil is valued, every mind is celebrated, and everyone has the opportunity to lead.
